Rosebud, Rozelle

I don’t think Rosebud was around when we were living in Rozelle, it has been such a long time since we moved out, I don’t even remember what was here previously. I was catching up with two of my favourite girls, A and S. Rosebud is very spacious, spacious open plan and outdoor dining area. Daily specials are written on the large black chalkboard neatly and everything sounded wonderful. The restaurant was busy when we got there, even on a weekday. Mothers, couples, and diners eating and sipping coffee.

The menu seems to have Middle Eastern influence, haloumi, dukkah, as well as the typical cafe items such as french toasts, big breakfasts, and many more. The coffee is excellent, and it is from one of my favourite coffee roasters in Sydney, Single Origin. Apparently, the ‘Rosebud’ blend is only available at the Rosebud restaurant in Rozelle…. of course.

My chai latte – deliciously creamy and smooth. Should definitely have gotten a large!

Both A and S couldn’t go past the angel hair pasta with spanner crab, olive oil, chili, garlic and rocket ($22). Al dente pasta, lots of flavour, lots of garlic and had a very nice spicy kick at the end. Think it was a little too spicy for S but I didn’t mind it so much.

I opt for the poached ocean trout salad ($19) served with red radish, asparagus, spinach and topped with ricotta. It was healthy and refreshing but I had serious food envy!!!

The sticky date pudding with butterscotch and ice cream ($10) was delightful and exactly what we all needed, especially me, after the healthy meal! I love sticky date pudding and who can say no to butterscotch?

Service warm and friendly, food wasn’t too bad. I noticed diners having wagyu burger and fish and chips and they looked fantastic! Again, serious food envy!

It was wonderful catching up with both A and S – and no doubt I will see you both very shortly!
